Mitsubishi Plant Starts Exporting to Morocco
The Portuguese plant of Mitsubishi expects to increase its production 16% in 2014.
The Mitsubishi Fuso Truck Europe (MFTE), located in Tramagal, is starting to export to Morocco, which will enable the plant to increase its annual production. According to an official source the plant currently exports to over 30 markets.
Until the end of July the total production was 2,485 units and is expected to reach the 4,367 by the end of the year. That will represent an increase of 16% when compared with 2013.
The Portuguese plant, with an area of 158,500 square meters, has produced over 203,800 vehicles, 172,165 of which of the Canter model.
The plant currently employs 313 workers and produces the Canter model, with a hybrid engine (diesel and electric) that is exported to Europe.
The company recently announced an expansion involving €5.5 million to prepare the launch of the Canter E-Cell (a truck 100% electrical).
