Embraer Presents Military Plane Manufactured in Portugal
The military plane was officially presented and the first experimental flights are scheduled to take place towards the end of the current year.
Embraer in Évora, Portugal and OGMA manufacture several components to the KC-390 plane.
Even though the two manufacturing plants located in Évora fabricate mainly components to jet planes, through OGMA (owned 65% by Embraer and 35% by Empordef), the company produces the main fuselage and also assembles wing components.
In addition, OGMA intends to obtain the required certification to do the maintenance of this type of planes.
A consortium entitled COMPASS, formed by a group of Portuguese companies and coordinated by EEA (Aeronautical Engineering Company), is submitting a proposal to supply the software to the plane’s “brain”.
